Hayden Valley

Yellowstone NP SM19-123

Not as famous as Lamar Valley, but perhaps even more scenic (if less rich in wildlife), is the Hayden Valley, nestled between the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone Lake. Edged by the Yellowstone River, the valley usually features a bison heard and an assortment of fowl. On an evening driving through the valley, I saw a distant buffalo herd, but no other mammals. I did, for what it's worth, run across a duo of swans on the Yellowstone River:
